Ok..here’s that question that will instantly make you more resilient:
“How can I do things differently?”
Why does this make us more resilient?
Sounds simple doesn’t it but there are a number of reasons why this works:
- We shift from shame, anxiety or stuckness into curiosity.
- The pressure is off – you don’t have to solve the problem, just do 1 thing differently.
- One small action leads to another – and, eventually, to a lot of progress.
- A ‘how’ question to yourself can override the ‘I can’t’ narratives that make us give up.
What situations does this apply to?
I find this to be a multi purpose question that you can use it at many times in life, including:
- With situations that repeat in your life.
- When you’re feeling low.
- In difficult conversations or conflicts.
- When you feel triggered.
- For planning and goal setting.
👉Resilience (like confidence) is the result of repetition. Being flexible, adaptable, focused, able to remain psychologically steady and set yourself up to thrive are all within your reach, depending on what you do every day. And one of the things you can aim for is to start doing things differently.
