Hey, are you actually using your whole brain right now?
I’m guessing not. Almost everyone who comes to me for resilience coaching isn’t. And that’s often why change feels so difficult. Not because there’s anything wrong with you but because you haven’t been shown how simple it can really be to create the life you want when you use your brain fully.
One of the most powerful pieces of insight for my clients is learning about the reticular activating system (RAS).
If manifesting is really just bringing your desires, dreams, and goals to life, then the RAS is the part of your brain that makes it happen. It’s the filter through which you experience the world. It’s what makes you notice some things and ignore others. It’s also called confirmation bias. Essentially, it reinforces the stories you tell yourself about who you are and what’s possible for you.
I spent the first 30 years of my life feeling like a bit of a victim. I believed my thoughts and feelings weren’t fully under my control, and that my life depended on luck or how other people treated me. Part of that was low self-worth—but a huge part was that I wasn’t using my RAS intentionally. I was letting it run the same old stories and keep me stuck.
How Your Reticular Activating System (RAS) Affects Your Life
All mindset is stories – about yourself, other people, and the future. And those stories aren’t harmless. They shape how you feel, think, and act.
Think about your most frequent thoughts. Are they things like:
“I’m not a confident person.”
“Nothing ever works out for me.”
If so, your RAS is filtering your world to confirm those beliefs – keeping you in a cycle of repetition and limitation.
Awareness is the first step. Once you understand how the RAS works, you can start to change your input. That’s where resilience coaching comes in. Together, we work on:
Step 1 Changing Your Thoughts
You have more control than you realise. Some tools we use include:
Challenging assumptions vs facts – separating what’s real from what your mind is making up.
Reframing – seeing situations from a different angle that gives you power instead of fear.
“I’m too slow” → “I prioritise accuracy over speed.”
“I’m too old” → “Experience is an advantage.”
Neutral thinking – stepping out of negative self-talk.
Stopping mind reading – reminding yourself you aren’t psychic when you assume what others are thinking.
Step 2 – Changing Core Beliefs
These are often formed before age seven – the elastic that pings you back into old patterns. Awareness, challenge, and change are the pillars here.
Step 3 – Removing Limiting Beliefs
“I could never…”
“I’m not the kind of person who…”
These blocks keep you small until you intentionally work with your nervous system, identity, and mindset to remove them.
Start Using Your Reticular Activating System Intentionally
Visualise what you want. Act as if it’s already happening. Become the version of yourself that has already achieved it. This is how you harness your brain to manifest what you want – and how resilience coaching can help you do it reliably, without struggle or self-doubt.
If you’re ready to stop being stuck in old patterns and start seeing what’s truly possible for you, book an intro call with me. Together, we’ll uncover the stories holding you back, reshape your thinking, and activate the part of your brain that can make change inevitable.
