1. An evidence based mindset. 🤓 How we feel about our reality is often based on the “evidence” we are choosing to look at. If your fear is strong then the only evidence you’re focusing on right now is failure, disappointment, rejection etc from your life so far. And you’re ignoring all the evidence of your successes, triumphs, abilities and lovable qualities (which IS there). Once you recognise this imbalance – and then intentionally start to see both sides, your fear will no longer dominate.
2. Comfort with discomfort. 🫠 When we are fearful we live inside our comfort zones. Anything outside this will cause you discomfort, which feels like fear. But most of the things you want are outside your comfort zone. So, you have to feel the fear/discomfort, there’s no way around it. Not only can you learn to tolerate discomfort but you can actually start to relish it too (yes, really) and will mean you have a different relationship with fear, in which it no longer controls you.
3. Nervous system connection. 🫀 Nothing will soothe your fear faster than the feelings of safety you can give yourself through nervous system self-soothing. Nothing. That’s when you can move yourself from fearful narratives to rational thought, communicating well, being calm and engaging rational thinking.
Fear can really ruin your life..
..whether it’s mild anxiety or full on terror and panic. We all experience this to different degrees but there are also things that work for all of us when it comes to changing our response to fear – and when we feel it.
