I forgot how old I was recently.
In fact it’s been kind of hazy for a while. No, it’s not memory problems 😂. It’s just become unimportant to me. And that’s not something I ever thought I’d truthfully say.
All the way through my 20s I dreaded being 30. Then I dreaded being 40. Then I saw a woman in her 50s on Instagram (10 years older than me) doing incredible calisthetics she’d learned in the past 5 years. And I thought “do you know what, just f*ck this, what on earth am I so afraid of.”
There’s an obsession in this world with age. I was in a magazine recently and they refused to publish the article unless I gave them my date of birth. It’s something we’ve become conditioned to define people by.
But it’s so out of date. And it’s so inaccurate. Your chronological age (date of birth) says absolutely nothing about you or what you’re capable of.
This is what I grew up thinking women over 50 were like:

And here are two women over 50 I follow on Instagram:

You don’t have to stand on your hands or look a certain way as you get older. And maybe the rocking chair is goals for you. But please stop telling yourself that things aren’t possible as you age. That decline is inevitable. You’re not too old.
Do yourself a favour and separate your age from your identity right now. Age doesn’t define you. It doesn’t need to limit you. There is no ‘on the shelf’ or ‘going downhill’ unless you buy into it.
If you want to stop believing that then you need to stop blindly following the social conditioning that whispers this dread of getting older. Because it’s creating a lot of fear and limiting beliefs you just don’t need.
You’re not too old, it’s not too late
Ageing is a privilege. It has HUGE advantages. And it can be the most powerful and joyful time in your life. Better than anything that came before. Really.
I’d LOVE to show you how to embrace it. How to set yourself free from limits around age. And also get to a place where you, too, can forget how old you are and start thinking about how excited, content and happy you are – and all the plans that you have – instead.
