Something that I hear often as a coach is “is it too late to change my life?” We seem to think that all our changing has to be done when we are young – or younger. And that if you want to change your life there will come a point where nothing else can be done and you just have to accept things as they are.

This is the realistic answer to “is it too late to change my life”

The one thing that all humans have in common is the capacity for change and transformation. We don’t celebrate this enough because our current culture is so obsessed with ‘life milestones.’ And once we’ve ticked these off we assume that we’ve done life. So we are looking outside of ourselves for the answers and receiving generic replies, rather than looking inside to understand what is genuinely going to make us happy in life.

You can change, start again, switch paths at any age

I’ve had clients ask me “is it too late to change my life” in an intro call, sign up for coaching and go on to begin a new career at 65. Or completely change the shape of their relationships and connections at 43. Or totally transform their self-perception and self-belief at 71 (and 25, 34, 49 and 52!). You don’t suddenly become incapable of change as you age, you just stop expecting it. Or you buy into the belief that it’s all downhill from here. Or you just get scared of it because it hasn’t happened for a while and is now outside your comfort zone.

Well here’s the good news – your beliefs shape your reality. That’s just how your brain works. So whatever you choose to believe right now about change is going to be the foundation of the reality you live a year from now. Is that going to be exactly the same place you’re in today? Or is it going to be somewhere you actually want to be?

If you find yourself asking “is it too late to change my life?” you are someone who already has a level of self-reflection that means you’ll get a lot out of resilience coaching. Book a free intro call with me and I’ll talk you through the ways in which change can feel much more effortless and aligned to you than you ever imagined. Everyone is scared of change. But that doesn’t have to stop you doing it and tapping into the amazing life that awaits you on the other side.
