Muscles + gritted teeth = resilience right? Mind over matter is all you need, correct?
Politely, no.
This is wildly out of date.
When you don’t feel resilient how do you feel – tearful? burned out? uninspired – and somewhere in there do you judge yourself to be ‘weak.’
You might have been led to believe that you can think your way to resilience with an iron mindset. Or force yourself into it. But this is probably what drained your resilience from you in the first place.
The next time you feel like this, instead of shaming yourself for weakness, feeling inadequate or trying to force yourself to be tougher, try some relentless self-compassion.
Treat yourself like a smol person who needs help – give yourself what you need, be nurturing, gently disciplined and encouraging.
It’s feeling cared for (by you), calm and having your needs met like this that provides the foundations for being resilient. Yes, that really is what will enable you to take action even though you’re afraid, keep going when things feel hard and find solutions when things go wrong. And do better than a certain politician if you’re even on a certain TV show.
This kind of resilience makes you unstoppable. If you’re ready to have this in your life, I’m here to help. Book an intro call with me to talk about what really builds resilience and how this can truly turn your life around.
