Have you ever taken a photo of yourself that you hate. And then when you look back on it a little later you feel completely different about it.
Self-perception isn’t the solid thing we think it is.
It changes depending on mood, hormones, recent events etc. Even on things like whether you’ve just exercised or had an orgasm.
But it is ALWAYS filtered through the lens of your mindset.
Which means you’ve got more control over it than you probably realise.
A mindset with perfectionism, low self-esteem, negativity, anxiety etc will be a lens that highlights what’s wrong and blurs out what’s right.
I highly recommend more exercise and more orgasms.[wink face]
But also investing in clearing out what you don’t need in your mindset. What’s tainting the lens unnecessarily.
It’s not just about thinking you look good in photos. When you improve your self-perception you’ll change other things in life too:
Expanding what you think is possible for you work-wise.
Receiving more, and no longer accepting less, in relationships.
Less time feeling embarrassed/ashamed.
Muting the self-criticism you hear in your head.
No more overwhelming fear.
It sounds good doesn’t it. If you’re ready to make this your reality then right this way.
The reactions we have to things are such a useful indication of our internal state – and where we can make improvements. Some of the things we think are set in stone (self-perception) are really much more fluid. Control is a bit of a myth for humans. But you can have a lot more influence over how you feel about you by building up resilience. It’s both the softness we need when we are feeling fragile and the momentum that sweeps us into action.
