I embraced it. This is who I am. This is how I function best. Full of ideas, experimenting and trying. The only thing I had to learn was to embrace failures (because not everything can work out) and to stop trying to force myself to do things in the way I thought I “should.”
I should is unhelpful and not constructive
When you stop fighting the fact that you’re a 3am ideas person, or you don’t like to do just one project at a time, and embrace what you DO like and how you DO function, you’ll find life easier and feel more confident. It’s less of a struggle because you’re just being you and working in a way that suits you best.
It’s like that child’s game where you try to put the right [square] shaped block through the right shaped hole. Trying to work like others is forcing a square block through a round hole. Working in the way that is right for you is when the shapes align. The game becomes fast and fun – and success is inevitable.
It makes sense right – but do you dare to do it? Sometimes that’s what’s actually missing. Giving yourself permission to do things differently (YOUR way) and to ask others to accommodate that.
Permission granted.
There are so many reasons to live your life in a way that works for you. And when it comes to how you work, the big advantage is a sense of ease. When I took the shame out of it – which was coming from the idea that there’s only one way to be a productive, effective human, one way to be happy, one way to work – and stopped trying to be perfect, everything changed. I became a productive, effective human x 10. And so much more energised and inspired.
If you struggle to work the way others do, maybe you’re not the problem
Resilience is rooted in embracing your uniqueness – this is your fastest route to happiness and success. Which means giving yourself permission to do things differently.
Because do you know what the one thing that will slow you down the most in life is? Trying to do things in the way that works for someone else.
If you’re ready to discover YOUR way – and hit the accelerate button – you’re in the right place.
